CURRICULUM VITAE

Olexa Piddubniak was born in village of Mala Mochulka, Ukraine, on 26th March, 1946; son of Polikarp Starynec’ and Tekla Piddubniak.
Married, wife Nadia Piddubniak (maiden name Volovodivska), sons, Ihor (1970) and Jurij (1978), and grandchildrens Daryna (2002), Ivanna-Olha (2003), and Anelia (2005).
The degrees of Candidate of Science and DSc in Physics and Mathematical Sciences obtained in the Lviv State University, Ukraine, in 1975 and in Institute for Problem in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in 1992, respectively.
Status of professor was confered to him in 1994.
Graduated from the Lviv State University, Mechanico-Mathematical Faculty in 1969.
In 1972-1975 was post-graduate student of Chair of Mechanics of the Lviv State University.
From 1975 to 1997 worked in the Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the National Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (Lviv) in the different periods as junior, senior and chief research worker.
In 1997-2006 worked as professor of the Technical University of Lviv.
Since 2002 working as extraordinary professor of the Lodz University of Technology.

Research activity covers the areas of mechanics of the deformable solids, acoustics and heat and mass transfer. Co-author of monograph "Scattering of the sound beams from the elastic bodies of spherical and cylindrical forms", Kyiv: Naukova Dumka, 1986. His scientific contribution consisted of over 160 articles in profiled journals, collections of works and conference materials. The main scientific results are following:

  1. Investigation of the stress-strain state of the elastic bodies with cracks and thin-walled inclusions under axisymmetric torsion;
  2. Mathematical modelling of the action of the parametric antenna of the difference frequency in the nonlinear elastic Murnaghan's material;
  3. Investigations of scattering of the bounded acoustic beams on the elastic obstacles of the spherical and cylindrical forms in the liquid or solid medium;
  4. Analysis of resonance and transition acoustic characteristics of the hollow circular elastic cylinder rotated in a liquid with a non-constant angular velocity;
  5. Mathematical description of temperature lag in the temperature pyrolysis of the finite cylindrical body;
  6. Mathematical modelling of sound radiation from moved cars, trains and aircrafts;
  7. Analysis of spectral and pulse characteristics of sound waves scattered from cracked cylindrical elastic shell.

He lectured on the elastic bodies torsion theory, the integral transforms in elasticity and acoustics, the surface acoustic waves (Lviv State University), the basic of optical schemotechnics, the design of optico-mechanical devices, the basics of scientific researchs, the basics of measurement theory (Technical University of Lviv), the reliability and safety, the heat and mass transfer inverse problems, the informatics – Mathcad, the noise and vibration protection, the geographical information systems, the ventilation and air conditioning; the legal and procedural standards in process industry, the heat pumps and energy storage (Technical University of Lodz).
Supervisor of 7 PhD and scientific consultant of 1 DSc.
Member of editorial board of journal "Mathematical Methods and Physicomechanical Filds" (Lviv) (from 1993) and Archeographical Commission of Shevchenko Scientific Society in Lviv (from 1996).
Hobbies: scientific bibliography, archeography and local history.
Author of the several works from the history of Ukraine.
Speaks Russian, Polish and some English.
