HISTORY
1945 - 1952 In the Faculty of Chemistry at Łódź Technical University, there was the Department of Theory of Machines. In 1946, after the death of Prof. Czesław Mikulski, Prof. Mieczysław Serwiński became head of this Department.
1952 - 1957 When Prof. Serwiński took over the duties of Dean of the newly founded Faculty of Food Chemistry, heads of the Department were Prof. Jan Szmelter and Prof. Jerzy Jędrzejewski.
1957 - 1970 The Department of Theory of Machines was transformed into the Department of Chemical Industry Equipment, and its head became Prof. Henryk Błasiński.
1970 - 1986 In the newly founded Institute of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Equipment is formed with Prof. Henryk Blasinski as its head.
1986 - 1992 When Prof. Błasiński retired, head of the Chair of Equipment became Prof. Andrzej Heim.
1992 - Foundation of the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering resulted in transformation of the of Chair of Equipment into the Department of Process Equipment. The Department was headed by Prof. Andrzej Heim. In March 2001, a Group of Granular Material Classification led by Prof. Piotr Wodziński, was formed in the Department.
